CARY, N.C. – Guilford's women's cross country team competed at the adidas Cross Country Challenge Friday evening at WakeMed Soccer Park. The Quakers' women were sixth among nine college squads with 216 points.
Guilford's Sommer Fanney turned in a second straight strong effort with a 13th-place time of 20:26.2. Her time was the second-fastest Division III mark in the race and ranks third all-time at Guilford. Teammate Sam Brown finished in 22:59.8, which ranked 37th in the 96-woman field. Guilford's Maia Murdock ran a 28:52.8 and placed 75th.
Bull City Track Club won the team standings with 39 points, followed by N.C. State's Club Team (43) and Fayetteville State University (101). Beth Donnelley, an unattached runner, won the individual race in 18:59.9.
Guilford returns to competition September 23 in a race hosted by Shenandoah University in northern Virginia.
