LYNCHBURG, Va. – Guilford College's women's track and field teams had two entries in Friday's invitational portion of the Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Track & Field Invitational hosted by Lynchburg College.
Senior Sommer Fanney continued her assault on the Quakers' record books by smashing the school's 1500-meter mark for the second straight week. She won her section and placed seventh overall with a time of four minutes, 59.94 seconds, nearly four seconds better than her standard set March 17 at the 49er Classic. Fanney also delivered personal best with the second-fastest 800 time in Guilford history. She placed eighth among 21 contestants in the 800 with a time of 2:27.66.
The rest of Guilford's women team will compete in Saturday's open events.
