Women's Relay Highlights Final Day of ETSU Track Event

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. --  Guilford College finished competing at the two-day ETSU Invitational on Saturday. The Quakers, the lone NCAA Division III team competing in the predominantly Division I and Division II field, had some exceptional performances. 

The Guilford College women's 4x400M relay team of Chantell CooperA'lexus Newkirk, Kayla Scott and Cheyenne Wright clocked a time of 4:33.21, good enough for third in program history. 

Newkirk earlier ran the seventh fastest 60M sprint in Guilford history after recording a time of 8.78. Scott posted a time of 8.84 in the same race.

Senior Sommer Fanney competed in the mile and continued her strong running, the holder of Guilford's two fastest times in the race posted the fifth-best time on Saturday after clocking a 5:39.60. She placed 19th of the 54 competitors in the race.

The Quakers are back in action next Saturday (1/20) for the Wake Forest Invitational, held at the JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C.
