WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - The Guilford women's soccer team defeated Piedmont International University, 3-2, in overtime on Saturday afternoon.

Karol Jaimes put the Quakers (2-2-1) up 1-0 early in the contest with a tally at the 10:29 mark.

The Bruins' (2-2-1) Kelsie Simpson responded with goals at 12:46 and 17:30 to give her team the 2-1 advantage.

Guilford struck back in the second half to tie the game when Kaylee Zabava found the back of the net with help from Claudia Mendez.

Neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in regulation so the contest continued into overtime.

Just 46 seconds into the extra frame, Jaimes netted her second goal of the game to secure the 3-2 victory for the Quakers.

Guilford outshot Piedmont International, 20-5, and also held the advantage on corner opportunities (11-2).

Morgan Malikowski got the start in net and made two saves during the win, while Kaitlyn Hunt recorded 11 stops for the Bruins.

The Quakers return to the pitch on Wednesday, September 18 with a 7 p.m. game at Pfeiffer University.
