  • Guilford College Honors Top Student-Athletes at Year-End Banquet

    Guilford College honored its top student-athletes Sunday night at a year-end reception in Dana Auditorium. Five award winners nominated and selected by the school's athletic department were recognized at the ceremony, which featured remarks from University of North Carolina assistant football coach Ken Browning '67.
  • Three Students Receive Guilford College's Top Athletic Honor

    Three elite Guilford College student-athletes received the 2007 Nereus C. English '26 Athletic Leadership Award at a banquet Monday night in Founders Hall on Guilford's campus. This year's English Award recipients were Jennah Carter, Joseph Poplin and Ben Strong. Since Guilford first presented the honor in 1977, 166 students have received the English Award.
  • Jennah Carter Earns Third All-State Nod

    Guilford College's Jennah Carter earned North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division III All-State honors Monday. Carter is a three-time selection to the all-state team, which consists of students from North Carolina's NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA institutions. North Carolina sports information directors submitted nominees and NCCSIA members selected the team for the fourth year in a row.
  • Guilford's Jennah Carter Named Soccer All-American

    Guilford College's Jennah Carter earned National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division III All-America honors Friday. Carter, a second-team selection, is Guilford's first performance All-America women's soccer selection. Guilford's Alex Hutton '03 and Amy Warner '90 earned academic All-America soccer honors.

    Guilford College's Jennah Carter earned a spot on the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/adidas NCAA Division III All-South Region Teams Monday. Carter, a repeat first-team honoree, is Guilford's first two-time all-region women's soccer selection and becomes eligible for All-America honors, to be announced later this month.

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's soccer coaches selected Guilford College's Jennah Carter to its First Team All-ODAC squad, the league announced Tuesday. Guilford's Micki Boulineau and Caroline Hemeter earned second-team recognition while Jada Daniel and Erin Rothweiler were honorable mention selections.

    Virginia Wesleyan came out swinging in the 2006 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Women's Soccer Final Saturday and rode an early goal to a 2-0 victory over Guilford. The Marlins, who in victory earned the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division III playoffs, pushed their record to 16-3-2 while Guilford ends its season with a 13-6-3 mark.
  • Guilford Defeats Eastern Mennonite in Penalty Shootout to Advance to ODAC Soccer Final

    Second-seeded Guilford defeated third seed Eastern Mennonite in a penalty shootout Wednesday to advance to its second consecutive Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament final. The Quakers move their record to 13-5-3, while Eastern Mennonite's mark goes to 13-4-1.

    Senior Veronica Zych won the Guilford College Student-Athlete of the Week Award for the week ending Oct. 29. The weekly prize is made by Guilford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.

    Senior Erin Rothweiler scored one goal and assisted another to help second-seeded Guilford past number-seven Randolph-Macon, 3-0, in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament quarterfinal match Saturday at Haworth Field.

Guilford's Joseph Poplin won the ODAC's Golfer of the Week Award and was also named the school's Student-Athlete of the Week by Guilford's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).

The D3kicks.com Team of the Week is selected from nominations submitted by Division III coaches and sports information directors from across the country.

    Emily Ott scored her first goal of the season with 10:36 left in the match to lift the host Quakers past Emory Saturday afternoon in the Guilford Classic. Ott's goal gave the Quakers their second win in a row after suffering two losses to nationally ranked foes last weekend in Ohio. Jennah Carter assisted on Ott's goal and scored Guilford's first tally, her team-leading fourth of the season. Emory entered the match ranked fifth in the current NSCAA South Region Poll. Guilford's Veronica Zych made five saves in goal.

  • Guilford Rallies for 3-2 Women's Soccer Win over Methodist

    Jennah Carter scored twice in the final 4:05 to rally Guilford past visiting Methodist in a nonconference women's soccer match Wednesday. Carter's second goal, with five seconds left in regulation, came off an Emily Ott feed from the top of the box. Ott also set up the game-tying goal when her long-range shot hit the crossbar and fell in front of the Methodist goal where Carter put it home to tie the game at 2-2 with 4:05 left in the game.
