Guilford Advances to ODAC Semifinals on PKs

Greensboro, NC (10/29/05) -- Guilford College's women's soccer team advanced to the semifinals of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament Saturday over Eastern Mennonite. The Quakers and Royals played 110 minutes of scoreless soccer before Guilford moved on by converting four penalty kicks in a shootout, compared to Eastern Mennonite's two.

The Quakers (12-5-3) forced the action for most of the game and enjoyed a 28-9 advantage in shots. Only nine of the shots went on goal however and Royals' netminder Joy Schaiebly stopped all nine shots. Guilford goalie Danielle Brisotti made five stops, including one in the second 10-minute overtime period, to keep Eastern Mennonite (8-6-4) scoreless.

Guilford's Chelsea Glover, Micki Boulineau, Amanda Sperr and Emily Ott converted Quakers' four penalty shots in five attempts. Christy and Sarah Hurst made the Royals' two shots.

The fourth-seeded Quakers move on to the ODAC Tournament semifinals for the second straight season to play top-seeded Virginia Wesleyan Wednesday (11/2). The Marlins edged number-eight seed Roanoke, 1-0, Saturday.
