FOREST, Va. – Guilford College's women's lacrosse team placed seventh and earned 23 points in the annual preseason poll conducted by Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) coaches. Defending league champion Washington and Lee University ranked atop the poll released Tuesday with 64 points and eight first-place votes, while Randolph-Macon College was picked second with 55 points and the conference's final first-place vote.
The Quakers look to build around the eight starters returning from last year's 6-10 (3-5 ODAC) team. Sophomore Madison Iandoli is back on offense, after a rookie campaign in which she ranked fourth on the team in goals (29). Senior Taylor Campellone and junior Holly Kozak trailed Iandoli with 20 points apiece. Campellone also ranked third on the team with nine assists. As a team, Guilford ranked sixth in the conference in goals scored (186).
On the defensive side, sophomore Cat Thresher ranked third on the team in caused turnovers with 16. Senior captain Sarah Sedaghat and freshman Kersten Daneau will contend for minutes in goal. The starting spot was vacated by the graduation of two-time All-ODAC performer Sammi Milbourn '17. Guilford ranked second in the ODAC with 149 total saves.
Interim head coach Charlotte Dixon starts her first year with the Quakers on the road at Averett University Tuesday, February 13. The Quakers host their first home game against Ferrum College Wednesday, February 28 at Appenzeller Field in the Armfield Athletic Center.
