  • Guilford Honors Top Student-Athletes With English Athletic Leadership Awards

    Six elite Guilford College student-athletes received the 2008 Nereus C. English '26 Athletic Leadership Award at a banquet Monday night in Founders Hall on Guilford's campus. This year's English Award recipients are Tracey Croner, Kelly Gonzalez, Joe John, Joe Joyner, Caleb Kimbrough and Kaci Loeffler. Since Guilford first presented the honor in 1977, 169 students have received the English Award.

    Guilford College junior Tracey Croner earned Second Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball honors for the second straight season Wednesday night. The all-conference teams and special award winners were selected by the league's head coaches and recognized at the ODAC's annual banquet at the Salem Civic Center.
  • Rally Falls Short in Guilford Loss at Randolph

    Guilford College’s women’s basketball season ended with Friday’s 60-59 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) loss at Randolph College. The loss, combined with Emory & Henry College’s 82-81 overtime win over Washington and Lee University, gives the Wasps’ the eighth and final spot in next week’s ODAC Tournament. The Quakers end the season with an 11-14 record (6-14 ODAC).

    Freshman Lauren LeFevers exploded for a career-high 31 points and grabbed a team-high seven rebounds leading Guilford to a 86-74 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) win over visiting Emory & Henry College Tuesday night in the Ragan-Brown Field House. The win and season-sweep of the Wasps keeps the Quakers' hopes for the final spot in the upcoming ODAC Tournament alive. The 31 points is the most by a Guilford student-athlete since Jennifer King's '06 32 points against Virginia Wesleyan College, January 2006.
  • Quakers Fall to Roanoke in ODAC Game

    Caitlyn Long scored 17 points and added a game-high 10 boards in Roanoke College's 70-56 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball win at Guilford College Saturday afternoon. The win gives the Maroons (13-9, 11-6 ODAC) a sweep of the season series with Guilford (10-13, 5-13 ODAC).

The Hornets completed a sweep of the season series with Guilford and move to 9-6 (6-4 ODAC) on the year. The Quakers fall to 10-6 (5-6 ODAC) with their fourth loss in five games.

The Quakers' (9-2, 5-2 ODAC) sixth win in seven games snapped the Marlins' (10-3, 7-1 ODAC) seven-game ODAC winning streak. Virginia Wesleyan recorded its lowest shooting percentage since 2005.

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) women's basketball coaches picked Guilford College seventh in their preseason poll, the league announced Thursday at its annual Media Day at the Salem Civic Center. Randolph-Macon College, the defending conference champion, tops the poll for the fifth straight season with seven first-place votes. Last year's ODAC Tournament runner-up, Virginia Wesleyan College, is picked second.
