  • Guilford's Kosgei Tabbed for National Championship Field

    Guilford College junior Derrick Kosgei earned the school’s first at-large berth to the NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships Sunday. Kosgei placed fifth at Saturday’s South/Southeast Regional Championship meet in Memphis, Tenn., to earn one of seven at-large berths in the 280-runner field.

    Guilford College’s Derick Kosgei captured the school’s first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) individual cross country title Saturday. The junior’s eight-kilometer time of 25:41 edged Virginia Wesleyan College’s Sean Whitson by four seconds and helped Guilford place a school-record second in the eight-team meet.
  • Kosgei, Quakers Win NC Collegiate Championships

    Guilford College junior Derick Kosgei won the North Carolina Collegiate Cross Country Championship Saturday, completing the eight-kilometer Guilford Meadows Course in 25:58.0. The Quakers’ Chad Norton took third (26:33) and teammate Sean White (27:07) as Guilford placed five runners among the top seven to claim the team title.

    Guilford College’s men’s cross country team earned its first regional ranking in school history Tuesday. The Quakers stand seventh in the Oct. 4 United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South/Southeast Region Rankings, first among the poll’s two Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) teams.

    Guilford College's Derick Kosgei set the school cross country record for a 6.4-kilometer course Friday with a time of 20:48.3 at the Mountaineer Open. He placed 21st in the 86-man field and helped the Quakers place fifth among six NCAA Division I and Division II teams in the race. Guilford missed fourth place by one point to East Tennessee State University. Guilford's Chad Norton ran the school's second-fastest 6.4-kilometer time in history (21:09.4) and took 26th in the meet
