  • Cross Country Round-up: ODAC Championships
    November 08, 2007
I apologize for the lateness of this newsletter. I have been trying to splice together some video footage of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship meet and hoped to have it ready for the Web site when I sent out the letter. Unfortunately, putting the video together has taken longer than expected, so without further delay...
  • Cross Country Round-up: Hagan-Stone Cross Country Classic
    October 06, 2007
In their final race before the ODAC Championship, the Quakers harriers once again ran the rolling hills of Hagan Stone Park in the Hagan Stone Park Cross Country Classic. Both teams faced a strong field of Division I, II, and III schools including Virginia Commonwealth, Duke University's "B" team, and the NY Institute of Technology. The women also faced ODAC powerhouse Lynchburg College, which is ranked among the top-10 teams in the NCAA Division III South/Southeast Region.

  • Cross Country Round-up: Old North State Invitational
    September 22, 2007
Guilford College's cross country team hosted the Old North State Invitational at Hagan Stone Park Saturday. Although mother nature was kind this week with lower temperatures, she apparently woke up on the wrong side of the bed and cranked up the heat for the race. Nevertheless, the Quakers were ready to roll and had some outstanding performances.
  • Cross Country Round-up: Salem Invitational
    September 15, 2007
Guilford's cross country teams traveled to Winston-Salem, N.C., last Saturday for the Salem College Invitational. We finally had some nice running weather with cooler temperatures and a soft course following our first substantial rain in months. Half of the team did not race this weekend and helped run a high school meet at Hagan Stone Park. While this half of the team did not race, they ran a workout after the high school meet to get in another quality day of running.
  • Cross Country Round-up: Generals Invitational
    September 08, 2007
The Quaker cross country teams traveled to Lexington, Virginia for the Generals Cross Country Invitational at Washington and Lee University. This is the fourth consecutive year Guilford has run in this meet and it proved the women's most successful outing and the second-best showing for the men. What makes this showing more impressive is how we "trained through" this meet. This means we did not lighten our training load to run well. We also left Greensboro at 5:00 a.m., which is just a little earlier than most of our students are used to on Saturday mornings.
  • Cross Country Round-up: Marlin Invitational
    September 01, 2007
Guilford College's cross country teams kicked off their seasons Saturday at Virginia Beach for the Marlin Invitational, hosted by Virginia Wesleyan College. As opposed to last year when we followed tropical storm Ernesto into Virginia Beach, the weather this year was warm, bordering on hot, and the course was bone dry.
