Guilford's Hedrick Sets School Triple Jump Record at Wake Forest Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Sophomore Jeremiah Hedrick broke Guilford College's triple jump record at Saturday's Wake Forest Invitational at JDL Fast Track. The non-scoring event featured a mix of NCAA Division I, II and III teams.
Hedrick's leap of 13.14 meters barely eclipsed Alex Smith's previous mark of 13.13 meters set in January 2013. Hedrick finished sixth of the 18 competitors, tops among NCAA Division III contestants. He also had the Quakers' top showing in the long jump with a leap of 6.29 meters that ranked 15th among 34 leapers.
Sophomore Juwan Houston posted a time of 8.77 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, Guilford's third-fastest time in the event in school history. He placed 16th of 48 runners. Houston also had the Quakers' best time in the 200, a 23.47-seconds clocking that placed 21st in the 63-man field.
John Martinez paced three Guilford contestants in the 800 with a time of 2:10.42, good for 35th place among 43 runners.
The Quakers next compete at the Finn Pincus Invitational on Saturday (1/27). The meet is hosted by Roanoke College.
