SWEET BRIAR, Va. – Virginia Wesleyan College defeated Guilford College, 5-2, Saturday in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Men's Tennis Tournament semifinals Saturday.

The second-seeded Marlins (15-4) advance to face top-seeded Washington and Lee University Sunday (4/27) for the ODAC Tournament title. Guilford, seeded sixth in the eight-team field, ends its season with a 7-11 overall record.

The Quakers took two of three doubles matches and nearly claimed a third, but the Marlins' top tandem of Graham Wilson and Kenny Dowling held off the Quakers' Turner Votipka and Erik Meiler, 8-6. Guilford's Trevor Cox and Aaron Smedley won the second-doubles contest, 8-3, and the third-doubles team of Levi Bruff and Mason Church pulled out a 9-7 win over Virginia Wesleyan's Drew Tomajczyk and Brendan Kelleher.

The Marlins rallied in singles play and claimed four of six matches in straight sets. Virginia Wesleyan's Spencer Bullock edged the Quakers' Cox at third singles, 6-4, 6-4, to clinch the victory.

Coach Dave McCain's team saw its season end in the ODAC Tournament semifinals for the second time in three seasons. With no seniors on the roster, the Quakers could return its entire team intact next season.
