BRIDGEWATER, Va. – Bridgewater College pulled out a 6-3 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) men's tennis victory over visiting Guilford College Sunday. The Eagles (6-6, 2-0 ODAC) won two of three doubles matches and four of six singles contests in the win.
Bridgewater captured two of the three doubles points with wins in the number-two and number-three flights. The Eagles' second-doubles tandem of Branden Larsen and Thomas Rischoff scored an 8-6 win over Guilford's Trevor Cox and Aaron Smedley. Bridgewater's San Churchill and Kyle Hartfield claimed an 8-2 win over Guilford's Levi Bruff and Mason Church at third doubles.
The Eagles won the first four singles contests, including Christian Lynn's three-set win over Guilford's Cox at third singles. The scores were 6-3, 3-6, 6-3. Bridgewater's Larsen downed Turner Votipka, 6-3, 6-3, in the first-singles contest.
The Quakers (4-7, 3-3 ODAC) scored wins at fifth and sixth singles. Smedley earned a tight 6-4, 7-5, win over Churchill at the fifth flight. Bruff won the sixth-singles match when Mike Cable retired in the first set.
