Men's Tennis Team Falls to Hampden-Sydney

GREENSBORO, N.C. (3/30/10) -- Three-time defending Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Player of the Year William Moss won twice to lead visiting Hampden-Sydney College to an 8-1 tennis win at Guilford College Tuesday.

The Tigers entered the match ranked 13th in the current Campbell's/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division III South Atlantic Region Rankings. The win keeps Hampden-Sydney's perfect season (8-0) in tact and raises its league record to 6-0. Guilford drops to 2-4 (1-3 ODAC).

Moss teamed with Rich Pugh to pull out a 9-8 (7-3) first-doubles win over Guilford's Alec Chase and Will Mason-Deese. Moss later downed Mason-Deese, 6-1, 6-1, at first singles and improved to 6-0 on the year.

Pugh did not surrender a point in his second-doubles win over Chase.

The Quakers are back in action Wednesday (3/31) at Averett University in a match rescheduled from Mar. 3
