Quakers rank eighth in latest Bushnell/Golfweek Poll

NORMAN, Okla. – Guilford College men's golf dropped three spots in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll. The Quakers earned 299 points to place eighth in the rankings. They were ranked fifth in the poll released at the end of March.

The top-four teams remained the same from last month's poll, but only one point separated first-place Methodist University and second-place Huntingdon College. The Monarchs garnered 380 points while the Hawks tallied 379. Both teams received five of the 15 first-place votes. Third-place Emory University earned two, fourth-place St. Thomas (Minn.) University got three, and the last went to fifth-place Illinois Wesleyan University.

The Quakers finished third of 16 teams in the Division III Match Play Invitational at the Grandover Resort April 16. Guilford, seeded second in the event, fell to Hope College in the semifinal round of the event and won the third-place match against cross-town rival Greensboro College. Hope ranked 11th in the Bushnell/Golfweek poll and Greensboro is 13th.

James Mishoe currently leads the Quakers with a 71.0 strokes-per-round average through seven rounds. Josh Hill's 73.11 average is second. He earned Old Dominion Athletic Conference Men's Golfer of the Week laurels April 2, his second such honor this season and the fifth for a Guilford golfer.

Head coach Justin Tereshko and the Quakers return to action at the ODAC Championships at Bryan Park in Greensboro April 22-24.
