NORMAN, Okla. – Guilford College's men's golf team returned to the top five in the latest Bushnell/Golfweek Division III Coaches Poll. Guilford jumped eight spots into fifth with 363 points in the poll released on Friday, March 30. The Quakers had been out of the top five since August when they were ranked fourth.

Methodist University, who was previously in fifth, topped the poll with 13 first-place votes and 443 points. Guilford's Old Dominion Athletic Conference-rival Washington and Lee University fell to 12th, while cross-town rival Greensboro College landed 13th.

The Quakers traveled to Florida, Georgia, and California to compete during the month of March. They earned two first-place overall finishes and one second. The first win came in a dual match with Transylvania University at PGA National in West Palm Beach, Florida.

James Mishoe, a sophomore transfer from UNC Greensboro, topped all competitors finishing at par with a round of 72 in his first match as a Quaker in Guilford's 300-310 win. He currently paces the Quakers with a 69.5 strokes per round average.

Mishoe was also the medalist at the Jekyll Island Intercollegiate in Jekyll Island, Georgia, March 18. He finished with a 10-under-par 206 to top the 150-man competition. Freshman Louis Lambert tied for sixth place with a showing of 75-69-69-213.

Earlier this week, Guilford took home another first-place crown in the West Cup in La Verne, California. Junior Josh Hill finished first individually in the event with a 71-74-71-216. Mishoe placed fourth with his 76-72-71-219 and sophomore Zach Evens finished 12th at 75-77-74-226.

Head coach Justin Tereshko and the Quakers get back to action April 6-8 in the Division III Match Play Invitational at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, site of the 2018 NCAA Division III Men's Golf Championships May 15-18. The next Bushnell/Golfweek Coaches Poll releases April 20.
