Quakers Place Fourth at Davidson Golf Invitational

DAVIDSON, N.C. (10/19/10) -- Guilford College sophomore Noah Ratner shot a two-under-par 214 over 54 holes to help the Quakers finish fourth at the Davidson College Invitational Tuesday at the River Run Golf Club. The lone non-NCAA Division I team in the 13-team field, Guilford shot 303 Tuesday for a three-round score of 886, 23 strokes off the pace set by tournament champion Wofford College (869).  

Ratner entered the final round with a two-stroke lead but shot 75 Tuesday and settled for his second third-place finish in as many tournaments. Wofford's Brent Whitehead carded a one-under 71 Tuesday and took medalist honors by a stroke over Radford University's Weston Eklund, who fired a four-under 68 Tuesday.  

Guilford junior Mat Hennick also shot 75 Tuesday and placed 13th overall with a 74-71-75-220. Teammate Alex Wise had a 76 Tuesday to finish in a share of 39th at 226.  

The Quakers host the O'Briant/Jensen Memorial Tournament Oct. 25-26 at the Cardinal Golf and Country Club.
