    Chris Rusiewicz, former associate head coach at NCAA Division III Ursinus College, was introduced as Guilford College’s new head football coach Wednesday, Jan. 5. The Quakers’ 22nd head football coach in 104 recorded seasons, he succeeds Kevin Kiesel, who compiled a 24-36 overall record in six campaigns.

    Guilford College’s Justin Parker concluded his college football career Dec. 3 in the D-III Senior Classic All-Star Game in Salem, Va. The second annual contest featured some of the top seniors in NCAA Division III football based on application and committee selection.
  • Guilford's Parker to Play in Division III All-Star Game

    Guilford College receiver Justin Parker has been invited to the second annual D-III Senior Classic, hosted by the Collegiate Development Football League (CDFL). The CDFL is a competitive football league meant to train football players 18-24 years of age for post-high school play. The D-III Senior Classic showcases the top 90 seniors in NCAA Division III with a North vs. South all-star game. Players are invited to play based on application and committee selection. The Senior Classic takes place this Friday (12/3) at Salem Stadium in Salem, Va. Tickets cost $10 and will be available at the gate. The game will also be broadcast on line.
  • Guilford's Ben King Earns All-ODAC Honor

(11/23/10) -- Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football coaches honored three Guilford College students on the 2010 All-ODAC Football Team, league officials announced Tuesday. Wide receiver Ben King received second-team honors. Senior Brice Carlson and junior Chris Jessup were named honorable mention.

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) head football coaches tabbed Guilford College sixth in the annual preseason poll announced Friday. Defending league champion Hampden-Sydney College earned three-of-seven first-place votes and the poll’s top spot. Bridgewater College received two top votes and is three points ahead of third-place Emory & Henry College in the poll. Randolph-Macon College took the final first-place vote and was picked fourth.

    Guilford College’s 105th recorded football season kicks off Sept. 4 when the Quakers host Greensboro College in the 14th Annual Gate City Soup Bowl. The contest, which has generated over 40,000 canned food items for Triad-area food banks, highlights Guilford’s 10-game slate and is one of two played under the lights of Guilford’s Armfield Athletic Center.

    Consensus Draft Services (CDS) named Guilford College rising senior Jordan Nelson to its 2010 NCAA Division III Preseason All-America Team Tuesday. Nelson, a 5-10, 170-pound cornerback and kick returner, made the second-team unit and was among 91 students recognized on the organization's Web site.
