  • 2009 English Award Winners Announced

    Five elite Guilford College student-athletes will receive the 2009 Nereus C. English '26 Athletic Leadership Award Tuesday (3/3) evening. This year's English Award recipients are Jennifer Abelin, Markas Brunson, Kelly Guarnieri, Kelly Hale and Clay Henson. Since Guilford first presented the honor in 1977, 175 students have received the English Award.

  • Vogelbach Signs With Pro Indoor Football Team

    Former Guilford College standout Josh Vogelbach '08 recently signed a professional football contract with the Bloomington (Ill.) Extreme of the Indoor Football League. Vogelbach, the all-time passing yardage and completions leader in NCAA Division III history, will report to the team's preseason camp in February.

    Guilford College senior receiver Kevin Vaughn earned Third Team All-America honors from D3football.com Saturday. Vaughn becomes the Quakers' 21st football All-American and the first since Chris Barnette '07 was a first-team selection in 2006.

    Guilford College senior receiver Kevin Vaughn earned First Team All-South Region honors from D3football.com Wednesday. A first-time all-region pick, Vaughn was the lone Guilford student and one of seven Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) competitors so honored this year. He becomes eligible for selection to D3football.com's All-America Teams, which will be released Dec. 20.
  • Football Places Four Students on All-ODAC Teams

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) football coaches honored two Guilford College students on the 2008 All-ODAC Football Team, league officials announced Wednesday. Senior wide receiver Kevin Vaughn earned first-team recognition and junior defensive end Markas Brunson was a second-team pick. Freshman defensive back Kenneth Hyman III and redshirt-sophomore running back Justin Parker garnered honorable mention all-conference recognition.

  • Brunson Earns Academic Honor

    Guilford College junior Markas Brunson has been named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III team for football, the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced Thursday. Brunson is the first Guilford student so honored since 2004 and advances to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.
  • Guilford's Vogelbach Nears NCAA Records

    Guilford College senior quarterback Josh Vogelbach enters this Saturday's (11/8) homecoming game with the Catholic University of America 98 yards shy of the NCAA Division III career passing yardage record. Vogelbach, who plays his final home college game Saturday, also needs 217 total offensive (rushing + passing) yards to set the Division III career mark. Westminster (Mo.) College's Justin Peery set both records from 1996-99.

    Randolph-Macon quarterback Austin Faulkner rushed for 111 yards, threw for 208 yards and had a hand in four touchdowns as he led the Yellow Jackets to a 55-24 victory over visiting Guilford College Saturday afternoon in ODAC Football action in Ashland.

The go-ahead score broke a 27-27 tie, the game's fourth and final deadlock.

    Redshirt-senior quarterback Josh Vogelbach threw for 268 yards and three touchdowns in Guilford College’s 47-31 nonconference football win over visiting Southern Virginia University Friday night. The wild contest featured eight fumbles, including two returned for touchdowns, a 90-yard kickoff return for a score, four turnovers and 904 total offensive yards between the two teams.

  • Guilford Fills 2008 Football Coaching Staff

    Guilford College added five assistant football coaches and promoted Joe Mitskas to defensive coordinator Tuesday. Interim athletic director Tom Palombo announced the addition of Brad Davis '08, Matt Hutchings, Bracy Maynard and Shawn Thomas to head coach Kevin Kiesel's staff. In addition, senior David Hayes will serve as a student assistant coach in 2008.

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) head football coaches tabbed Guilford College fifth in their annual preseason poll announced Friday at the league's annual media day at the Salem Civic Center. Defending league champion Hampden-Sydney College earned five of seven first-place votes and the top spot in the poll. Randolph-Macon College picked up the remaining first-place votes and the ranking's second place. Bridgewater College edged Washington and Lee University by one point for third place.
  • ODAC to Video Webcast 2008 Football Media Day

    The opening event of the 2008-09 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) athletic schedule can be viewed by more than those just in attendance. For the second consecutive year, the ODAC will be video webcasting its 2008 Football Media Day LIVE over the Internet. Thanks to Penn Atlantic, provider of the league's streaming services, the event will be FREE to all viewers. The annual kickoff meeting is set for Friday, August 8 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Virginia. It will begin at 11:00 a.m.
