Guilford's football season is off to a 3-1 start, and you can make it better! It's time to look ahead to Saturday's Gate City Soup Bowl, which is the annual football game between Guilford College and Greensboro College. Leading up to the game, both schools conduct a canned-good drive for the benefit of the Greensboro community. Not only can you help by cheering the Quakers at the game, but you can donate to a worthy cause and help Guilford get a "W" for the canned-goods challenge.
This year's donations will be divided between the Greensboro Urban Ministry and Food Assistance, Inc. The donations will go to local homeless shelters and people in need. We need donations of non-perishable food and canned goods. The collection ends September 29, 2007.
Donations can be put in boxes on campus at the Alumni House or brought to Project Community (downstairs in Founders Hall). Fans may also bring at least two cans to Saturday's game in exchange for free admission. Checks can be sent to Project Community to purchase non-perishable food items. Checks must be made out to Guilford College and sent to:
5800 West Friendly Avenue
Greensboro, NC 27410
The game will be at Grimsley High School (801 Westover Terrace, Greensboro, NC 27408) the Saturday (September 29) at 7:00 pm.
Guilford's food drop-off table will be at the stadium entrance. We hope to see you there donating food and cheering on the Quakers.
Thanks in advance for your continued support of Guilford College.
