Guilford's Vogelbach Named ODAC Player of the Week

Greensboro, N.C. (9/4/06) -- Guilford College redshirt-sophomore Josh Vogelbach won the season's first Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Offensive Player of the Week Award Monday. This is the third time the quarterback has received the honor in the last seven weeks, dating back to last season.

Vogelbach completed 31 of 46 passes for 338 yards and a school-record six touchdowns in the Quakers' 49-35 victory over Ferrum Sept. 2. He hooked up with three different receivers on scoring passes against the Panthers and threw four touchdowns by halftime. Vogelbach tossed three touchdowns to wide receiver Micah Rushing, two to Joe Joyner and one to Chris Barnette. He has thrown for over 300 yards in each of his last seven games.

Head coach Kevin Kiesel's Quakers have won five straight contests dating back to last season, the team's longest streak since 1997-98. Guilford travels to Methodist to take on the Monarchs Sept. 9 at 1:00 p.m. The Quakers' next home game is Sept. 30 at 1:00 p.m. against cross-town rival Greensboro in the 10th annual Gate City Soup Bowl. At halftime of the game, the field will be formally named for Jefferson-Pilot Professor of Sports Studies Emeritus and former Athletic Director Herb Appenzeller.
