Emory Defeats Baseball, 13-6

GREENSBORO, N.C. (4/9/10) -- Kevin O'Connor had three hits and Adam Genn threw eight solid innings in visiting Emory University's 13-6 baseball win at Guilford College Friday afternoon.

The Eagles (14-16) banged out 16 hits off of four Quakers' pitchers and scored in all but three innings. Gabe Shivers' two-run double highlighted Emory's four-run second inning. Patrick Riebsame's two-run homer in the third opened a 6-0 lead and chased Guilford starter Will James (2-3).

The Quakers strung together four straight hits in the bottom of the third and scored three times to make it a 6-3 game. Emory answered with a two-out, two-run homer by Dan Molnar in the top of the fourth inning. Molnar, Riebsame and Shivers all finished with two hits and two RBI.

Genn scattered 12 hits and did not walk a batter in eight innings. The Eagles' defense turned two double plays and did not commit an error.

Derek Hardison had three of the Quakers' hits, including a double and his fifth homer of the season. He finished with two RBI. Casey Mann and Alex Starbuck both added two hits in the loss.

Guilford hosts Randolph-Macon Saturday (4/10) at 1:00 p.m. in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference doubleheader. The Quakers' eight graduating seniors will be honored before the game and the new Stuart T. Maynard Batting Center will be dedicated between games.
