Guilford Completes Season Sweep Against Southern Virginia

Martinsville, Va. (4/6/07) -- Guilford College completed a sweep of the season series with Southern Virginia University Friday night with a 12-8 victory at Hooker Field.

Guilford freshman Paul Keenan fanned 11 in eight innings, both career highs, for his third win of the season.

A pair of homers helped the Quakers open a 9-4 lead. Jared Davis hit a two-run shot in the fifth inning, his second career homer. Junior Phil Drew hit a solo shot in the seventh for Guilford, which won for the third time in four games. Davis also hit a run-scoring single in the third. Chad Boone belted a two-run double to highlight Guilford's four-run third inning.

Jonathan Mills had three singles for the Knights. Greg Larsen hit an RBI double in Southern Virginia?s four-run third inning. Logan Mann (0-2) fanned six in six innings.

Guilford visits Roanoke Tuesday (4/10) night in an Old Dominion Athletic Conference game.
