Guilford Upends Bluefield, 15-5, in College Baseball Action

Bluefield, WV – Sophomore Chad Boone (Winston-Salem, NC/West Forsyth) belted two solo homers and Rob Bittner (Wilmington, DE/Salesianum) added a two-run blast in Guilford's 15-5 win at NCAA Division II Bluefield State Monday night.  The win snapped Guilford's three-game losing streak and gave the Quakers (24-16) a sweep of the season series with the Big Blues (4-42).  Bluefield has lost 28 straight games.

Boone's blasts give him a career-high eight homers this year, which ranks second only to Bittner's 10 homers.  Bittner moved into sixth place on the Quakers' career homers list with 19.  His 10 home runs stand sixth on Guilford's single-season list.

Junior Mike Balash (Mars, PA/Mars Area) evened his record at 2-2 with the win.

Guilford closes the 2005 season against Ferrum Tuesday night (4/26) at 6:00 p.m. in a contest to be played at Hooker Field in Martinsville, VA.
