  • Played four seasons for the Quakers' volleyball team from 1977-80 for Hall of Fame coach Gayle Currie
  • Helped Guilford to an 84-65 record during her career and received the college's prestigious Nereus C. English award in 1979 for outstanding athletic leadership and ability. 
  • Earned a spot on the North Carolina Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NCAIAW) All-Tournament teams in 1977 and 1978 and represented the Quakers on the All-Carolinas Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (CIAC) volleyball squads in 1978 and 1980. 
  • As a senior, Ahlers garnered first team All-NAIA District 26 laurels while helping Guilford to a 31-13 record and its first NAIA District 26 Championship. 
  • received her Master of Science in Accountancy from Ohio University in 1983 and a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Baltimore in 1994.
  • Works as an attorney in the law office of H. Barrett Peterson, Jr. and Associates
