- Received the first athletic scholarship given to a woman by Guilford College in 1974 following a standout basketball and tennis career at Asheboro (NC) High School.
- Two-time Carolinas Intercollegiate Athletics Conference (CIAC) performer, she enjoyed her finest season as a senior when she averaged a team-high 17.7 points per game, 8.9 rebounds per game and set the Guilford school record for single-season free throw percentage (.820).
- Captained Coach Gayle Currie’s club three times in her career and received the team’s Best Defensive Player Award in 1976 and 1977.
- In 1978, she became the first female recipient of Guilford’s highest athletic honor, the Nereus C. English Award, and also received a prestigious Dana Scholarship for her academic and athletic accomplishments.
