  • Was the first woman to head a college athletic program with a football team in North Carolina

  • Named Teacher of the Year by the Thomasville City Schools (1981)
  • Served on the athletic training staff for the 1984 Summer Olympic Festival, the 1986 World Lacrosse Games, the 1987 U.S. Olympic Festival and the 1987 International Gymnastics Training Camp
  • Won Athletic Trainer of the Year by the N.C. Athletic Trainers Association (NCATA) (1989)
  • Served as Secretary of the NCATA in 1988-88 and President in 1989-90
  • Served on the Board of Directors for the NCATA from 1990-92
  • Named to the State’s Superintendent’s Sports Medicine Advisory Committee in 1989
  • Received Guilford’s Heart and Hand Award in 1998
  • Served as a member of the Davidson County School Board
  • Was a presenter at North Carolina Medical Society in 2000
  • Inducted into the NCATA Hall of Fame in 2002
  • Retired as Guilford’s head athletic trainer in 2008
  • Currently an exercises and sports sciences professor at Guilford
