Guilford's Gunn and Phillips Named to All-ODAC Volleyball Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Seniors Emma Gunn and Taylor Phillips received All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Volleyball honors Monday.  Gunn was named to the second team, while Phillips was named to the third team, according to a vote of the league's head coaches.

Gunn, a middle hitter, tallied 209 kills (2.30 per set) on .311 hitting and 47 blocks (.52 per set) in 26 matches this season. Her hitting percentage ranks second among ODAC leaders. one of her best matches came against Greensboro College Sept. 9 when she amassed 19 kills and a .576 hitting percentage with four blocks. Gunn had double-digit kills in eight matches and her hitting percentage reached .300 or higher 14 times. The four-year letter winner will graduate ranked third in school history with a .244 hitting percentage. Her 81 career solo blocks and 157 career blocks assists both rank 10th alltime at Guilford.

Phillips' 450 digs and 4.69 digs per set this season rank first and second in the ODAC, respectively. Her .922 serve receive percentage led the team. The Quakers' libero tallied double-digit digs in 25 of her 27 matches, including seven contests with 20 or more pickups. Phillips had a career-high 34 digs in Guilford's win over Peace College Sept. 10. She ranks second in school history with a 1,217 career digs and averaged 3.01 digs per set for her career, Guilford's fifth-highest figure. A two-year starting setter, Phillips also compiled 1,538 career assists, which ranks fourth in school history.

Coach Emily Gann's Quakers finished with a 12-15 overall record.  Guilford posted a 5-5 ODAC mark and earned the sixth seed for the ODAC Tournament. Gann expects nine letter winners back in 2012.
