Parsio's Record-Setting Efforts Lifts Guilford Past Meredtih 3-2

Raleigh, NC-- Senior hitter Mackenzie Parsio posted a school-record 40 kills in Guilford's 3-2 nonconference volleyball win at Meredith Tuesday. The scores of the match were 27-30, 31-29, 24-30, 31-29, 15-3. Guilford (5-10) snapped a three-match losing skid with its second five-set triumph over Meredith (3-8) this season.

Parsio's broke her career high for the third time in four matches and bettered Guilford's previous mark of 38 set by Laura Nelson against Bridgewater in 1997. She made 32 kills, now the fourth-highest total in school history, in the Quakers' loss at Virginia Wesleyan September 25.

In addition to Parsio's effort, freshman setter Jessica Chapman made a career-high 61 assists, the third-best total in Guilford history, and added 10 digs. Junior hitter Mandy Myers had 20 kills and 10 blocks (4 solo). Seniors Kendra Harvey and Rhonda Rogers paced the defense with 25 and 24 digs, respectively.

Coach Glenda Dellinger's Quakers resume Old Dominion Athletic Conference play this Saturday (10/02) in the Ragan-Brown Field House against Randolph-Macon Woman's College (9:00 a.m.) and Sweet Briar (2:00 p.m.).
