RALEIGH, N.C. – Kim Treese scored 13 minutes into the game and Berry College made it stand in a 1-0 women's soccer win over Guilford College Saturday in the first day of the Meredith College Labor Day Classic.
The teams played the remaining 67 minutes evenly as Berry held a 9-8 edge in shots and both squads had four corner kicks. Berry goalie Brooke Clement made four saves, as did Quakers' keeper Cori Karoly. The Vikings (1-0) held Guilford (0-1) to only two shots in the final 30 minutes of the game.
Guilford plays Agnes Scott College Sunday at 2:15 p.m. on the final day of the Meredith College Labor Day Classic.
