Quakers' Women Win Fourth Straight, 59-53, at Hood
FREDERICK, Md. - Junior Gabby Oglesby scored 16 points and grabbed a career-high 17 rebounds in Guilford College's 59-53 road basketball win over Hood College Saturday. Oglesby tallied the most boards in a game by a Guilford student since 2009 and moved into 14th place on the Quakers' career rebounding list with 516.
Oglesby collected 10 offensive rebounds, which helped the Quakers (8-2) outscore their hosts, 21-10, in second-chance points. She also recorded her third double-double in as many games. While Guilford failed to shoot 30 percent from the floor, it played strong defense and held a 55-46 edge in rebounds. The Quakers forced 19 Blazers' (3-5) turnovers and converted them into 16 points.
Brittany Drew scored 14 points for Guilford and teammate Morgan King added 12. Lila Scott finished with nine points and Logan Hardin contributed six points and eight rebounds off the bench. Senior point guard Brittany Atwater did not score, but collected six rebounds, six assists and four steals.
Hood's Dyanna Prater led all scorers with 18 points and Emily Maerz added 11.
Guilford visits Marymount (Va.) University Sunday (12/16) at 2:00 p.m. in search of its fifth straight win.
