LYNCHBURG, Va. – Sophomore Gabby Oglesby scored 15 points and freshman Brittany Drew added 12 in Guilford College's 64-56 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) basketball win at Lynchburg College Saturday.
The Quakers (17-5, 14-3) matched their most wins in a season since 2003-04 thanks to a solid defensive effort that held the host Hornets (8-15, 7-11 ODAC) to 30 percent shooting from the floor. The Quakers shot over 56 percent in the first half to take a 32-30 halftime lead and grew their edge to 14 before Lynchburg rallied.
Shannon Allan and Shea Kelley made consecutive three-pointers to draw Lynchburg with 56-50 with 52 seconds remaining, but the Quakers iced the game with eight-for-eight free-throw shooting down the stretch. Drew made six of the free throws, which helped her record her fifth game with 10 or more points.
Allan came off the bench to score a game-high 22 points and grab nine rebounds.
