  • Kelly Guarnieri Earns Honorable Mention All-ODAC Softball Recognition

    Sophomore Kelly Guarnieri earned honorable mention All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) recognition Monday. The league's head coaches nominated and voted on the league's annual all-star teams. Guarnieri also received honorable mention laurels in 2006.
  • Lynchburg Sweeps Softball Doubleheader at Guilford

    Visiting Lynchburg College tuned up for the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament with a sweep of Guilford College Wednesday afternoon in a league twinbill rescheduled from April 15.
  • Harris Pitches Emory & Henry to Softball Sweep at Guilford

    Junior Shannon Harris tossed a six-hit shutout in the opener and fanned three in the nightcap to win both games of visiting Emory & Henry College's Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader sweep of Guilford College Saturday at Haworth Field. Harris fanned 10 in the first game, a 2-0 Wasps' win, and threw the last two frames of Emory & Henry's 5-4 eight-inning, game-two victory.
  • Guilford Takes Softball Doubleheader Against Meredith

    Emma Shew's RBI single scored Zenovia Hogue in the bottom of the eighth inning and gave Guilford a 6-5 comeback win over visiting Meredith and a sweep of the Angels in Thursday's nonconference doubleheader. Micki Boulineau's RBI single in the fourth inning of the opener broke a 2-2 tie and sent the Quakers on to a 5-2 win.
  • Guilford Sweeps Randolph-Macon Woman's in Softball Doubleheader

    Guilford swept its first softball doubleheader of the year Wednesday with a pair of Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) wins at Randolph-Macon Woman's College. The wins ended a string of nine straight losses and improved Guilford's record to 7-25, 3-11 in the ODAC. The Wildcats fell to 5-19 and 0-14 in the league.
  • Roanoke Downs Guilford in Softball Doubleheader Action

    The Roanoke College softball team improved to 21-5 on the season with a double-header sweep of Guilford College on Monday in Salem, Va. The Maroons also improve to 8-2 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. Roanoke won the first game 10-0 and followed with an 8-0 win in the second contest. The Quakers fall to 5-25, 1-11 in the ODAC.
  • Softball Drops Doubleheader to Bridgewater

    Bridgewater College ran its winning streak to six straight Sunday by sweeping Guilford College in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball action. The Eagles won the opener, 7-0, and then took the second game, 25-0.

    Eastern Mennonite University and Guilford College split an Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) doubleheader Saturday afternoon on Gehman Field. The Quakers won game one 1-0, while EMU pulled out an 8-5 comeback win in the second game.
  • Softball Drops Doubleheader to Virginia Wesleyan

    Visiting Virginia Wesleyan swept an Old Dominion Athletic Conference softball double-header at Guilford College Thursday. The Marlins (5-13, 2-2 ODAC) won the opener, 14-4, in five innings. Va. Wesleyan won the nightcap, 12-1, also in five innings.

    The Methodist softball team put the Guilford Quakers away early in a 8-0 shutout and held on for a 7-6 win in game two. The Monarchs start the season 2-0 overall while Guilford falls to 1-7 on the season.

    Guilford’s softball team enters its fifth season with a new head coach at the helm. Dennis Shores begins his first year as the Quakers' head softball coach after taking over for Ty Cook, who resigned in December. He inherits a squad that returns only six letter winners and posted a 9-31 record in 2006.
  • Guilford Tabbed Eighth in ODAC Softball Poll

    Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) softball coaches picked Guilford College eighth in their preseason poll, which the league office released Thursday. The Quakers received 26 points, 10 behind seventh-place Randolph-Macon. Three-time defending league champion Roanoke earned five of nine first-place votes and the poll's top spot with 84 points. Bridgewater placed second with 82 points and three first-place votes. Guilford head coach Dennis Shores did not vote in the poll since he was hired last Thursday.
  • Dennis Shores Named Head Softball Coach At Guilford College

    Guilford College Athletic Director Marion Kirby named Dennis Shores head coach of the Quakers' softball squad Thursday. Shores replaces Ty Cook, who led the Quakers to a 34-82 record in three years before resigning in December.

    Guilford College Athletic Director Marion Kirby announced the resignation of head softball coach Ty Cook Monday. He said a search for her replacement is underway. The Quakers are scheduled to open their sixth fastpitch softball season Feb. 17 against Christopher Newport University.
