    FOUR SOFTBALL STUDENT-ATHLETES LAND REGIONAL RECOGNITION Greensboro, NC (5/12/05) -- A school-record four members of Guilford College's softball team received All-Atlantic Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Thursday. Senior outfielder Jennifer Franklin was a second-team selection. Senior catcher Ashley Cooke, junior infielder Carla Cain and freshman pitcher/infielder Christi Dunnigan were third-team picks.

    FRANKLIN, COOKE AND DUNNIGAN TAKE ALL-ODAC SOFTBALL HONORS Greensboro, NC (4/29/05) -- Guilford senior Jennifer Franklin became the first player in school history to earn First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) laurels, the league announced Friday. Franklin's classmate, catcher Ashley Cooke, and freshman pitcher Christi Dunnigan were second team picks. Junior Carla Cain garnered honorable mention plaudits. The four All-ODAC selections establish a school record for the Quakers, who also set school standards for overall (16) and ODAC wins (8) in a season.

    BRIDGEWATER BEATS GUILFORD, 4-3, IN FIRST ROUND OF ODAC SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT Salem, VA (4/23/05) -- Corey Payne's one-out, bases-loaded single through a drawn-in infield scored Jennifer Hall and gave fourth-seeded Bridgewater a 4-3 win over number-five Guilford in the opening round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Tournament Saturday at the Moyer Sports Complex.

    VIRGINIA WESLEYAN STAYS ALIVE IN ODAC SOFTBALL TOURNEY WITH 6-4 COMEBACK WIN OVER GUILFORD Salem, VA (4/23/05) -- Becky Sowel's two-out, two-run single sparked Virginia Wesleyan's three-run fifth inning and helped the Marlins rally for a 6-4 win over Guilford in the consolation round of the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Softball Tournament Saturday at the Moyer Complex. The win came in the third-seeded Marlins' (22-12-1) third straight game of the day.

    EAGLES SWEEP SOFTBALL DOUBLEHEADER FROM GUILFORD Harrisonburg, VA (4/3/05) -- Bridgewater College rallied in the bottom of the seventh inning in both games Sunday afternoon to sweep a doubleheader from the Guilford Quakers in Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) action. The Eagles won the opener 2-1 and then took the second game 3-2.

    DUNNIGAN WINS WEEKLY SOFTBALL PRIZE Guilford College freshman Christi Dunnigan received the Old Dominion Athletic Conference's Softball Pitcher of the Week Award for the week ending March 20. Dunnigan joins teammate Jennifer Franklin as Guilford recipients of an ODAC weekly softball prize in 2005.

    GUILFORD SPLITS SOFTBALL DOUBLEHEADER WITH MEREDITH GREENSBORO, NC (3/2/05) -- Guilford and Meredith split a nonconference doubleheader Wednesday on Guilford's Haworth Field. The Quakers won the opener, 3-2. The Angels rallied to win the nightcap, 8-6, for their first win of the year.

    MONARCHS RECORD SPLIT AGAINST GUILFORD IN 2005 SOFTBALL OPENER FAYETTEVILLE, NC (2/23/05) -- The Methodist Monarchs opened the 2005 softball season on Wednesday with a doubleheader split against visiting Guilford at Monarch Field. The Quakers prevailed in game one 3-1, before the bats came alive for 20th-ranked Methodist as the Monarchs won the nightcap 9-6.

    NEMENZ ADDED TO GUILFORD SOFTBALL COACHING STAFF Lindsay Nemenz joined Guilford College's athletics department staff Wednesday as an assistant softball coach. The Kernersville, NC, resident will assist Quakers' head coach Ty Cook in her second season at the helm of Guilford's three-year-old fast-pitch softball team.
