The Guilford College men's cross country team had a successful season. The Quakers top five runners achieved season and career-bests at the season-ending NCAA South/Southeast Region Championships, held in Newport News, Va.
Junior Caleb Amstutz was GC's top finisher in the team's first four races. He clocked a season-best 27:30 at the NCAA Regionals. Amstutz also set a program six-kilometer record (21:07.0) at the Hornet Harrier event on Sept. 23 in Winchester, Va.
Freshman Kieran Arbury, however, posted the top times in the final two meets: the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championships and the NCAA Regionals. Arbury was a team-best 37th (27:35.75) at the conference championship and he ran a 27:25.6 at regionals.
The Quakers placed eighth at the ODAC Championships and 25th at the NCAA South/Southeast Regional Championships. With GC losing only Anderson to graduation its top five runners, the future looks bright for Danny Cash's 2018 squad.
