Two Quakers Post Top-10 Times at Charlotte Invitational

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Guilford College junior Andris Goncarovs finished 44th out of 244 runners Friday at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational in Charlotte, N.C.  Virginia Tech took first in the eight-kilometer race at McAlpine Park.  Guilford was the sole NCAA Division III competitor in the 35-team field and placed 21st.

Goncarovs led Guilford and crossed the finish line in 25:36.71, the fifth-best time in school history.  Classmates Chad Norton (26:02.33) and David Cason (26:40.99) took second and third place on the team, respectively.  Norton's clocking ranks 10th all-time at Guilford and Cason's effort stands 17th. Rookie Matthew McKeown (29:17.98) and senior Joshua Farrar (32.19.75) rounded out the Quakers' scoring. 

The Quakers' cross country teams will next compete in the Hagan Stone Cross Country Classic at Hagan Stone Park in Greensboro, N.C. October 6.
