Goncarovs Wins 5,000 Meter Run, Quakers Place Sixth in ODAC Championships

LYNCHBURG, Va.---Andris Goncarovs won the men's 5,000 meter run as Guilford College Men's Indoor Track and Field placed sixth in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference Championship at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center in Lynchburg, Va. on the campus of Liberty University.

Goncarovs (15:07.49) set the season and school record in the 5,000-meter run, winning the race by 4.67 seconds and earning first team All-ODAC honors.  Goncarovs also placed fourth in the mile run with a time of 4:33.82.

David Cason (8:50.87) placed third in the 3,000 meter run, the second best mark in school history and just 2.12 seconds off the school's best mark.  Teammate Chad Norton (8:57.21) crossed the finish line behind Cason, placing fourth.

C.J. Green reached the finals of the 60 meter dash with a preliminary time of 7.17 seconds, a season-best mark by .05 seconds.  In the finals, Green improved on his season-best mark with a time of 7.14 seconds, finishing sixth.

Josh Farrar placed sixth in the 800 meter run with a time of 2:02.13, setting the season-best mark by 2.59 seconds.

The Quakers turn their attention to the outdoor season, which begins March 15-16 when the Quakers compete at the Wake Forest Open in Winston-Salem, N.C.
