Votipka and Nelson Lead Guilford Past Roanoke, 5-4

SALEM, Va. -- Guilford College's Turner Votipka and Ben Nelson teamed for three victories in the Quakers' 5-4 Old Dominion Athletic Conference tennis win at Roanoke College Friday.

Votipka won his first singles match against Roanoke's (9-6, 5-4 ODAC) James Lee, 6-4, 6-3. Erik Meiler defeated Chris Migliarese in a tight third-singles showdown, 7-5, 6-4. Mark Cheong dropped his first fourth-singles set, 5-7, but followed with a 6-3, 7-5 finish. Nelson won his match against Lewis Young at sixth singles easily, 6-1, 6-3.

Votipka and Nelson paired for Guilford's (6-7, 4-4 ODAC) only doubles victory. The tandem defeated Migliarese and Jacob Morris, 8-2,

The Quakers play their final matches of the season tomorrow, Saturday, Apr. 13 against Lynchburg College and Randolph College at 9:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m., respectively. Both matches are against conference opponents.
