SALEM, Va. – Reid Mayberry scored six goals and Jeff Keating added three goals and five assists in Roanoke College's 17-7 Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) lacrosse win over Guilford College Wednesday.
The Maroons (11-3, 6-1 ODAC) are ranked ninth in this week's United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association's Division III Coaches' Poll.
Guilford coach Tom Carmean praised his team for a "great effort." He said some of the team's first-year students received some quality playing time against a top team. Carmean specifically noted the efforts of rookies Ian Parker (2 goals) and Thomas Deane (12 saves).
Mayberry scored three times in the first quarter and twice six seconds apart at the start of the second quarter. Keating had two goals and three assists in the first half, which ended with the hosts on top, 11-3.
Chris Ashcraft and Parker both scored twice in Guilford's season finale. Nick Mann notched two assists for the Quakers (6-9, 1-6 ODAC). Deane also picked up six ground balls in goal, which led the team.
