Guilford College is ranked 12th in the first Division III Bushnell Golfweek Coaches Poll of the spring season. Huntingdon College received all 19 votes in the coaches' poll to remain at the number one spot.
In the fall, the Quakers competed in four matches, securing a top five finish in three of them. Their best finish came when they placed second out of 15 teams at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial. Guilford also finished third out of 18 squads at the NCAA Preview, and tied for fifth among 16 squads at the Transylvania Fall Invitational.
Freshman Zach Evens holds the lowest stoke average on the team (73.88). He competed at three events in the fall. His best finish came at the O'Briant-Jensen Memorial where he shot a season-low round of 68, followed by an even par 71 to secure third place. Senior Ty Palmer is second on the team with a 74.38 stoke average. In his three performances on the year, his best was a second place finish at the O'Briant-Jensen. He shot 71 on the first round, and a season and team-low round of 67. Another senior, Kendall Dunn, holds the team's third-lowest stroke average (74.91). He competed in all four events for Guilford. His best performance came at the NCAA Preview where he finished tied for sixth. In this match he shot two sub-par rounds, including a season-low round of 67.
Coach Justin Tereshko and the Quakers open their spring season March 6 at the Callaway Gardens Invitational in Calloway Gardens, Ga.
