GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Guilford's men's basketball team released its 2017-18 schedule Tuesday. The Quakers will tip off this season on the road against cross-town rival Greensboro College Wednesday, Nov. 15. They will play at Hanes Gym on Greensboro's campus unlike last season, where the teams faced off in the Greensboro Coliseum. Guilford hosts Concordia University (Texas) on Friday, Nov. 17 to start the Guilford College Classic. The Tornados finished 19-8 a season ago and were ranked seventh in the NCAA Division III South Regional pool. Their second game is against Huntingdon College, where former Guilford assistant coach Caleb Kimbrough '08 serves as the head coach and former Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Year Ben Strong '08 is the assistant.
The Quakers open their Old Dominion Athletic Conference schedule against Washington and Lee University at home, Wednesday, Nov. 29. The teams played in an exciting game last year, when forward Carson Long hit a three pointer with 1.1 seconds remaining to give Guilford the victory, 68-66. Guilford will host Emory and Henry College Wednesday, Dec. 3, in a rematch of last year's ODAC Championship game. The Quakers split last year's regular season series with the Wasps, 1-1.
Head coach Tom Palombo and the Quakers are coming off a 24-6 (13-3 ODAC) campaign, which saw Guilford win securing the ODAC tournament and regular season championships and a first round game in the Division III Tournament.
