Guilford Wins at Johnson & Wales, 89-51

CHARLOTTE, N.C.Josh Pittman scored a game-high 20 points and Matt McCarthy added a career-high 19 in Guilford College's 89-51 basketball win at Johnson & Wales University Tuesday.

Pittman made six three-pointers and McCarthy added three in the first half as the Quakers (7-2) built a 45-23 halftime lead.

While Pittman managed only two free throws in the second half, the damage was already done. McCarthy scored eight points in the second half, six on his fourth and fifth three-pointers of the game. Teammate Travis Tracy added seven of his nine points in the second half.

Freshman Zeb Richardson scored 12 for the Quakers and collected a game- and career-high 13 rebounds.

Jay Keller led the Wildcats (3-13) with 11 points thanks to three second-half three-pointers.

Guilford returns to action Dec. 28 at Maryville (Tenn.) College.
