GREENSBORO, N.C. – Guilford College's men's basketball team is seeded third in the upcoming Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) Tournament. The tournament begins on campus Feb. 21 and continues Feb. 23-26 at the Salem Civic Center in Salem, Va.
The Quakers finished tied for third in the regular season standings with Hampden-Sydney College, but earned the third seed by virtue of their 83-72 regular-season victory over the Tigers Feb. 15. Coach Tom Palombo's squad plays its quarterfinal game Friday, Feb. 24 versus #6 Randolph College, a 69-62 winner over #11 Roanoke College in Tuesday's first-round game. The WildCats defeated the Quakers Feb. 11 at home, 67-58, and also eliminated Guilford from last year's ODAC Tournament in the quarterfinals.
Senior Gabriel Lowder averages 13.3 points per game and leads the Quakers in both field-goal percentage (44.4) and three-point field goal percentage (33.3). His conference three-point field goal percentage (41.9) ranks fourth among ODAC leaders. Lowder is second on the team in scoring to junior Josh Pittman (13.4 ppg.). Pittman also leads Guilford in assists (68) and steals (44). Lowder (78.5) and Pittman (77.8) are ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, among ODAC free-throw percentage leaders.
