Relay for Life at Guilford College

Friday, April 13 from 6:00 p.m. until 2:00 a.m.

Armfield Athletic Center, Guilford College

Guilford's softball team looks to continue its fight against cancer again in 2012 by partnering with the American Cancer Society to hold a Relay for Life event April 13 at Guilford College.  Coach Dennis Shores' squad has previously held 'Score for the Cure' games to fight breast cancer and extended the call to every other college softball team to host similar contests.

This year's softball team looks to fight not only breast cancer, but all cancer by hosting a Relay for Life event. Groups from the Guilford community are invited to join together in an effort to raise funds for cancer research. Teams of walkers will gather at the Armfield Athletic Center and take turns walking laps around the field.

All Guilford teams, student clubs, academic and administrative departments are encouraged to participate by fielding teams of any size and obtaining sponsors.

Volunteers are needed to help us plan this event in the following categories:

  1. Logistics - What to set up at the event and where to set it up
  2. Team Recruitment - Focuses on recruiting teams and getting the event name out to the public
  3. Entertainment - Finding entertainment for the night
  4. Accounting/Online Marketing - Keeping up with the online communication and social media, creating online marketing schemes

We are looking for:

  • Anyone with experience in Relay for Life
  • Anyone interested in helping with this event
  • Teams to walk the track
  • Teams/clubs to set up tents and advertise
  • Cancer Survivors to be present
  • Corporate sponsors
  • Entertainment- bands/vocalists
